Corn Closes Up Double Digits

Front month corn prices gained 11 to 11 1/4 cents on Monday, recovering about half of the Friday sell off. USDA’s weekly Export Inspections report showed 54.78 mbu of corn shipped on the week ending 1/21. That was up 18.78 mbu from the week earlier and more than double shipments from the same week last year. Japan was the top destination for the week, with 37% of the total. MYTD corn exports are 84% ahead of last year’s pace with 737 mbu shipped. For sorghum, USDA reported 19,182 MT were shipped on the week, bringing the MYTD total to 2.818 MMT. China was the exclusive destination for the week’s milo export.

May 21 Corn closed at $5.14 1/4, up 11 1/4 cents,

Jul 21 Corn closed at $5.10, up 11 1/4 cents,

Sep 21 Corn closed at $4.58 3/4, up 7 1/4 cents,
