Cotton prices didn’t recover all of Friday’s losses, but still ended with 58 to 77 point gains for the front months. New crop cotton prices are a 3.45 cent discount to nearby, as December closed at 78.88 cents and up by 41 points. USDA’s Daily Spot Quotations report showed 5,032 bales were sold on Monday for an average price of 78.40 cents/lb. The weekly Cotton Classings report showed 222,229 bales of upland cotton was classed on the week ending 1/21. That brought MYTD classings to 13.197m bales. The Cotlook A index was up a penny to 89.10 cents/lb on 1/22. USDA’s AWP for cotton is 66.7 cents/lb. through Thursday.
